Lauren Timek has 20+ years of training in classical ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, character, hip hop, pantomime, musical theater, & voice performance. Lauren’s training has taken place across the tri-state area with several different studios, certification programs, professional instructors and companies including Dance Theatre of Wilkes-Barre – Gina Malsky-Prokop, Bravo!, Jamie Verazin – Broadway Professional and Dance Captain, Broadway Dance Center, Trinette Singleton – Joffery Ballet, STEPS and NAPE Broadway Theater and Dance Company. Lauren’s training has included the exploration of ballet techniques including Cecchetti, Vagonova and Balanchine as well as different variations of jazz/contemporary technique. More recently, she was afforded the opportunity to study along side current industry dance pros such as Lauren Froderman, Alex Wong, and Aaron Turner from “So You Think You Can Dance.” In addition to dance training, Lauren is also a certified fitness instructor as she believes correct alignment and dance foundation comes from proper training and conditioning.
Lauren was a member and choreographer of the Kutztown University Dance Team. She was also was a member and co-captain of the R-Phils Dance Team. Lauren made her Broadway debut in 2000 appearing in Broadway’s “The Nutcracker” and again in 2001 for Broadway’s “Cinderella” along side of Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” She was then selected as a Dancer/Stage Show Character at Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios until pursuing other professional performance opportunities. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications, Lauren continued auditioning and working as a professional dancer with credits including guest artist roles and even back up dancing for recording artist, Lenny Kravitz.
In 2011, Lauren became an NFL Cheerleader and co-captain for the New York Jets, serving three seasons with the team. While dancing for the Jets, Lauren was selected to travel and perform with the inaugural show team, a small group of the teams’ elite technically-trained dancers who performed at high-profile appearances, including Super Bowl XLVIII. Lauren then went on to become an alumni ambassador for the team and an assistant trainer for rookie candidates.
Currently, she enjoys traveling to train and choreograph with different dancers across PA, NY and NJ, privately coaching as well as teaching at The Dance Theatre of Wilkes-Barre, The Academy of Movement, and PATA. Lauren has earned over 25 choreography and technical recognition awards on both a regional and national level throughout her teaching career. Lauren has proudly trained numerous national award winning group and soloists, has produced a student who has been accepted to the pre-professional program at the prestigious Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.
Coach Lauren is proud to say that all of her “jobs” are linked to the performing arts; her true passion. When she is not teaching, Lauren is fulfilling her day-job as the VIP Tristate Sales Representative for Discount Dance Supply which allows her to work with instructors and studio directors across the country.
